The Tia Foundation’s first 5k Race for Health took place on Saturday, March 27, 2010.  Over 40 participants (like Thunderbird student Savinay Chandrasekhar, pictured above) came to support Tia’s mission and help out the cause.

Runners, walkers, and some of the rugby players from the field who came to partake in our BBQ helped us to raise nearly $2,000, enough to provide healthcare for almost 400 people living in rural Mexico.

Thanks again to everyone who came to the event, especially all our fantastic volunteers :  Efrain Diaz and family, Nate Harris, Alex Harris, Betsy Cotter, Angela Rodela.   Of course, we would be remiss if we failed to thank the staff at Thunderbird School for Global Management, especially the guys in facilities and our catering friends at Chartwells who helped us with the BBQ , which sold out because the food was so good.  WAY TO GO KATE DENNEY!  SHE REALLY PLANNED AND FACILITATED AN AWESOME AND FUN EVENT!

We hope to see you all again next year!

Tia’s Founder, Laura Libman, will be walking in the 5K Run/Walk Race for Health this Saturday March 27th  at Thunderbird School of Global Management at 9:00 a.m.    Laura needs sponsors to reach her goal of raising enough to train and equip one Community Health Worker (Promotora) who will serve over 300 villagers.

The total cost is $1,000 and so far, Laura has raised $200!  Help her reach her goal by pledging any amount you are able at http://allsportcentral.com/donation/index.cfm?CampaignID=113&FundraiserID=385.  Even a small donation helps.

The Race begins at 9:00 a.m.

Event Information

The event will be held on the Thunderbird Campus, located at the corner of 59^th Avenue and Greenway, and will start and end on the rugby field.  There will be a 5k Run, a 5k Walk and a Family Fun Run, followed by a BBQ.

Event Times

5k Run : 9:00 am

5k Walk : 9:00 am

Family Fun Run : 10:00 am

BBQ : 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

Registration Information

Entrance fees include a race day t-shirt.

The first 25 entrants will receive a free ticket for the BBQ.

Thunderbird Students will receive a $5 discount.
