Earthquake Volunteer Brigades Mobilize

Tia has so many unselfish medical and allied health professionals, who have provided world-class training for our Promotores.  You will not be surprised to know they have already mobilized to treat earthquake victims in Distrito Federal and the State of Morelos.  We are honored to work with these heroes!  #fuerzamexico !  If you have been wanting to find a way to provide direct and real help, please consider a donation in any amount. Or type https://secure.qgiv.com/for/ttf into your browser.  We are sending money daily to these dedicated volunteers to offset their costs of gas and supplies.

Our second annual Brophy College Preparatory trip during the second week of October will be in Atotonilco El Alto, in the Los Altos (the highlands) region of Jalisco.  Laura and Dr. Roberto just returned from our advance trip to prepare for our project with Brophy.  We were struck by how clean even the humblest of dwellings were kept.  Flowers in almost every yard and the tiny town plazas very neat.  The people here may be poor, but they are proud of their community!

Tia Project Sites

Tia has covered so much of Central Mexico that all the project site location names cannot fit on one map!  Everywhere you see a yellow pushpin, Tia’s Promotores are helping their neighbors out, providing free care and educating them on health topics to keep their families well.

Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So…get on your way!”

Tia now has 553 Promotores serving 172,000 people in Mexico. This Promotora just graduated in San Pedro Itzican, Jalisco with her son watching.  He attended many classes with her.   His mother learned how to deliver babies, make a water filtration system using household items, give an intramuscular injection, do CPR and how to spot and manage diabetes.  Her skills will be especially useful here because they live a great distance from the nearest doctor and because the water quality is abysmal.  Her selfless dedication to learning and serving others means her adorable little boy will enjoy a higher quality of life.
