Show Mom She Really Matters

12809805_10154038833189529_1478890164_oShow your mom she really matters by how you shop for her.  When you buy her flowers or a gift, do it through Amazon Smile or Goodshop and let her know you help other mothers living in extreme poverty too.  When you do your shopping, you can help Tia help those mother just by selecting us as your charity of choice when you buy from Amazon or Goodshop. It is very simple and doesn’t cost you a penny!

Just go to http://smile.amazon.com/ and on your first visit to AmazonSmile, you are prompted to select a charitable organization from our list of eligible organizations. You can change your selection at any time. AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice.

Or go to Goodshop and select Tia Foundation as your charity of choice. Goodshop is an online shopping mall that donates a percent of your purchase price to your cause when you shop at one of 3,000+ partner stores including top retailers like Amazon (1.5% donation), Expedia (up to 5% donation), and Staples (2.5% donation). You can also find 25,000+ active discounts and money-saving coupons so you can save money and give back at the same time!

You can also go to eBay and choose Tia Foundation when buying or selling items.

Brigade Fiesta de Gracias

We always have a thank you party (Fiesta de Gracias) for our super hard working UVM (Universidad del Valle de Mexico) brigade.  Here they are at La Almeja Exotica, our favorite, cozy little seafood restaurant.  Our founder, Laura was especially happy to meet this brigade since she was laid up after knee surgery for the last project in Tizapan El Alto.  She enjoyed getting to meet and thank each on personally for being part of our most success project yet!  Many of of these tireless young people begged for the chance to go on our next brigade to Tuxcueca in June.

We are proud to announce our first VEA (Volunteer Expedition Adventurer), Katie Smith. Katie will be joining us in the field in June, in Tuxueca, Jalisco.  She’ll be helping us put together medical kits, act as a ‘guinea pig’ patient for the Promotoras to practice bandaging and taking vitals, and helping with photography and interviews.  She’ll also get the opportunity to use her Spanish.  Please check out her page at https://www.gofundme.com/katielsmith and make a donation of whatever amount you can to help her reach her goal!

Would you like to be a VEA? Click here or go to type in the link address to find out how: VEAs  (https://tiafoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/veas.pdf)

376 Tia Promotores

Monday

After Tizapan el Alto, the Tia Foundation now has 376 Promotores (Community Health Workers) working in Mexico and caring for 140,000 rural villagers.  These unpaid volunteers study hard to pass their examinations and often sacrifice sleep to come to the aid of their neighbors, night or day.  They are true heroes and heroines!
