Mixed Voces Interviews Tia’s Founder
Mixed Voces, a Spanish language newspaper, published an article on the Tia Foundation this week, written by editor in chief, Marco Arreortua. The beautifully written piece includes a photo slide show from our most recent project in San Juan de los Lagos. Check it out and use Google Translate (albeit an imperfect translation) if you don’t speak Spanish. We are very grateful for the support and interest by our local Hispanic Community. Click on the picture of their masthead to be taken to the article or cut and paste this link: http://mixedvoces.com/comunidad/ayuda-humanitaria-que-atraviesa-fronteras-31933#.VYMYjOznvBM.facebook

Quick Comida at DIF in San Juan
Almost every day, we stopped by the DIF (Family Development Agency) Center in San Juan de los Lagos where we would take a 20 minute break for the big mid-day meal, or comida. This day we had tuna salad, tortillas, tostadas, a vegetable salad and agua fresca. It always felt good to get off our feet for a few minutes.
Proud Grads Put Us Over 300!
These proud graduates, showing off their new diplomas in the Casa de la Cultura in San Juan de los Lagos, push the number of Tia Promotores to 320. There were 33 graduates on June 5th of 2015, 32 women and one man. Many came very well dressed, with their hair done especially for the important event. Tia Promotores are now serving around 120,000 indigent Mexicans. Thank you to these unselfish people for their hunger to learn and their desire to help their neighbors!
