Charity In Focus holds an annual contest which has t
he objective of, “Using photography, to capture charity and compassion within our society with the goal of increasing awareness and participation in charitable acts.” Nonprofits from around the world enter photography submissions that exemplify the needs of our global communities.
After the winners are selected, an exhibition of their work is displayed in the Icosahedron Gallerie in New York City from July 20th-22nd. If you are in New York during the exhibition, stop by and see Tia’s winning photo. You can also view all the submissions on Charity In Focus’s Flickr Page.
AFTER NOTE: A dear friend of Tia, Ramiro Castro, attended the exhibition. Ramiro was one of the Thunderbird students who accompanied us to the villages in Guanajuato, Mexico to help conduct a field study on the effects of development programs on the rate of immigration. Since that trip last fall, Ramiro continues to follow our progress. He sent us some photos taken at the exhibition, which he described as a lovely and emotionally moving event.
